Katie LaRose

Born in Atlanta, Georgia, and raised in upstate New York, Katie LaRose joins us from Virginia where she worked as an architectural designer in Richmond. Katie holds a Masters of Architecture from the University of Virginia and a Bachelors of Fine Arts in Interior Design from Virginia Commonwealth University. While at UVA, Katie was funded by the Carlo Pelliccia Fellowship in 2020, for research based in Rome, Italy. The fellowship investigated the mediation of the built environment, memory and representation, and will be published in the forthcoming journal, Lunch 15.

Upon graduation of her M.Arch, Katie received the Alpha Rho Chi Medal by the National Professional Architectural Fraternity and the Faculty of Architecture Award for Design Excellence in recognition of her merit in design, attitude, and leadership.

From her experience with historic adaptive reuse, Katie believes designers need to employ creative solutions to promote sustainable practices. She believes this is best achieved in a collaborative manner - with clients, communities, and the many other proponents of a successful project.

An aspirational beekeeper, Katie likes to cook, draw and watercolor in her free time. She once ran a half marathon exclusively listening to Queen, just because it felt right.
